Job Purpose: To ensure that compliance is met with the Port Marine Safety Code as a statutory Harbour Authority both at Harwich and Felixstowe representing the companies interests in liasons with Maritime agencies and ship operators, to give advice and guidance to management on all maritime related issues affecting Felixstowe, Harwich and Thamesport.

Primary Functional Object of the Role: 
- Ensure the operation of safe navigation of vessels in the Port of Felixstowe and Harwich international Port waters, in an equitable, efficient, safe and secure manner.
- To develop maintain and implement emergency plans and procedures with respect to Marine activities.
- Ensure that fully compliant counter pollution and ships waste disposal plans are maintained and implemented.

Primary Line / Performance Management Objectives of the Role:
- To act as statutory Harbour Master for the Port of Felixstowe and Harwich International Port, and advise the marine activity at London Thamesport
-Provide expert advise, concise and timely reporting on shipping, navigation, and emergency response issues to the executive management.

Responsibilities - Involved with managing relationships and third party services, customers, shipping crew and companies, some of whom will be high profile stakeholders. Responsible for the marine repairs and maintenance including infrastructure in consultation with operations and building services, produce annual reports to assist with budget review

Experience &amp; Knowledge
- Robust Knowledge and application of National and International maritime legislation gained through a minimum of 5 years recent previous experience in an operational or marine orientated role.
- Knowledge of dredging practices, techniques and operations
- Thorough understanding of layout of the Ports shipping channels, berths and navigation aids.
